If You Like… Then You’ll Like – 2019 Releases Edition!

Wow, I haven’t done this type of book recommendation in a while. Which means I have so many books to talk about!!

Today, I want to focus on some early 2019 releases. Now, if you don’t know how this works, I’ll list 3 fairly hyped books, and pair them with 3 other books that are somewhat similar in tone, theme, or genre. If you like one of the books, you’ll probably like the one it’s paired with!

Alright, enough talking, onto the book recommendations!

Read More for my recommendation matches, and why I paired them together!

Bullet Journaling: A Bookworm’s Guide to Getting Started

Bullet journals have really grown in popularity in the past couple of years, and whenever I looked at those amazing pictures on instagram and pintrest, I would get so intimidated. I have no artistic talent, and no creativity, plus I’m a perfectionist. So basically, the worst combination for a bullet journaler. I never let myself try it, because I was so afraid I would be bad at it.

Well, in December 2018, I decided to try it anyways. No one else would know, but me, so if I failed spectacularly, only I would witness it.

I’ve been bullet journaling for about six months now, so I’ve decided to share what I’ve learned, and my advice for beginners. And since this is a book blog, I’ve also included pictures of some of my bookish spreads!

This will be an overview of sorts, so if you want specific tutorials on how I did any of these spreads, let me know!

Bookshelf Tour + Organization Tips

Before I get into this, I just want to mention a post I made of 8 Things Every Book Collector Has Heard. I also just made a post about consumerism in the book community. Be sure to check that out! I feel a little hypocritical doing a bookshelf tour right after talking about how consumerism is negatively effecting the community. However, I think it’s possible to let yourself take pride in your collection and share it with others while also being aware that it became the way it is because of an unhealthy mentality surrounding book buying as well as pressures from the community.

Disclaimer: This collection has been a lifetime in the making. I’m 21, and I’ve been actively collecting books & bookish things with every spare dollar I’ve had, for over six years. This didn’t happen overnight, so if you’re just starting a collection and desperate to make it bigger, just give it time! Don’t go out purchasing a dozen books you never want to read. Be patient and let it grow with you.

One of my favorite things in my life is my book collection (also my dogs, who love to jump in any pictures I try to take of my collection). It’s been years in the making, and something I spend most of my extra time and money on.

I know it’s definitely excessive, but it brings me so much joy that it’s worth losing all wall space in my bedroom. And today, I wanted to go into detail on my shelves and how I organize them, as well as some tips I’ve learned.

2019 in 12 Book Covers

Let’s be honest. We all judge books by their covers.

There is nothing better than a beautiful book with a beautiful cover to match, so I wanted to highlight some books that are coming out in 2019 (or already have) that have absolutely stunning covers. Admittedly, this is just an excuse for me to fangirl over some beautiful art, but maybe you’ll see something you love as well!

Now for some quick disclaimers. Naturally, this is all my opinion. Maybe there’s a cover I love that you hate, but I just want to shine a light on some of the gorgeous works of art that I know I’ll be wanting on my shelf.

Also, I’ll only be covering covers of books released from January 2019 – July 2019. A lot of later 2019 releases haven’t released covers yet, and I don’t want to miss some potentially gorgeous covers. So we’ll be doing the first half of the year in the post, and hopefully, later I’ll make a part 2 with the July – December releases!

I tried to find the cover artists for all of these amazing books, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find them all. If you know any of the artists I missed, please let me know so I can correct it!

Okay, let’s get started fangirling over books.

I don’t really know what it is in particular with this cover that I love, but it is so stunning. He’s adorable and he’s my favorite.

And that’s my list! Twelve 2019 releases with covers that I adore, and that I can’t wait to see on my shelf.

What’s your favorite book cover?

My February 2019 TBR

There are so many amazing books I want to read, but I managed to narrow my TBR down to my top 5. I tried to mix it up with ARCs and new releases, all of which I’ve been dying to read!

Last month, I got to one book from my TBR, but hopefully this month I’ll do better. I’ve already started King of Scars, so maybe this momentum will continue throughout the month.

Read more to hear about each of these amazing-sounding books!

January 2019 TBR

December was a rough reading month, holidays and finals kinda took over my life, and books were, unfortunately, put aside. But I did get to 3.5 out of 5 books from my December TBR!!! I’ll have my wrap up posted tomorrow where I go into more detail on that (and if you’re reading this in the future, then it’s posted here).

I’ll be traveling this month, so I’m not sure how much reading I’ll be getting done, but I still hope to start these four books! That said, I’m not putting too much pressure on myself to finish all four. Especially because King of Scars doesn’t come out until the 29th, leaving only two days for reading it.

Read more to hear about these books!
