My Reading Plans (and I made a Tiktok)

It’s been a while.

I’m sure I don’t need to talk about how crazy the world is right now. We all have been witnessing everything first hand. All I will say: while I’ve reached levels of boredom I never thought possible, it’s so important that we follow medical professional’s advice during this crisis.

But that doesn’t mean we have to be miserable!

My school is online for the rest of the semester, and my job is closed at least until the end of the month, so I suddenly have more free time.

How am I spending it?

Reading. No surprises there.

And tiktok, but we’ll get to that later.
Also Animal Crossing but I’m not here to talk about that

Read more for my quarantine TBR (I can’t believe those are actual words I’m saying), and the story behind my Tiktok.

Also, if you came here from tiktok, hi! Thank you for checking out my blog! Read more if you want more details on what I do here!

19 Best Book Releases of 2019 (Recommendation Nation)

19 Best 2019 Book Releases

*Cue shock that 2019 is ending*

We all know what happens at the end of the year- the “Best of” lists start coming in. Well, I may be a little late to the party, but of course I had to make one! There were a lot of amazing books that came out this year, and I really want to talk about all of them. And by all of them, I mean 19 of them because I only have so much time on my hands.

Before we get started, I just want to let you know that this list won’t be including debut novels that were released this year. I actually have a whole separate list featuring my favorite debuts, so make sure you check that out!

Standalones & New Series

11. Into The Crooked Place by Alexandra Christo

Release Date: 10/8/2019
Series: Into The Crooked Place #1
Genre: YA Fantasy
Page Count: 384
PurchaseIndiebound Barnes & Noble | Amazon

(I’m actually still reading this, but based on how much I’ve read so far, I know this book deserves a spot on the list)
Into The Crooked Place is Alexandra Christo’s sophomore novel, following her 2018 release To Kill A Kingdom, which was one of my favorite releases of that year. However, this book is very different from its predecessor, but definitely not in a bad way. It’s got major Six of Crows vibes, with four different protagonists who are entrenched in fantasy criminal underground, but it has plenty of factors that make it stand out.

10. Echo North by Joanna Ruth Meyer

Release Date: 1/15/2019
Series: Standalone
Genre: YA Retelling (Fantasy | East of the Sun, West of the Moon)
Page Count: 389
PurchaseIndiebound Barnes & Noble | Amazon
Click Here For My Full Review! ]

I have to admit, I didn’t know much about “East of the Sun, West of the Moon”, the story that Echo North is a retelling of, but this book got me obsessed with it. If you, like me, don’t know much about it, the best way I can describe it is that it’s like “Beauty and the Beast” mixed with the story of Cupid/Eros and Psyche, but with an epic quest. Echo North is a unique take on this fairy tale with gorgeous writing and a fascinating setting.

Looking for some new books to read? Keep reading for all of my recommendations!

Currently Reading: Into the Crooked Place by Alexandra Christo

I’ve noticed a trend that I only seem to do Currently Reading posts when I’m in reading slumps…

Yeah, I’ve hit another reading slump.

But we’re back.

So as I suffer through this slump, I wanted to talk about Alexandra Christo’s latest book: Into the Crooked Place. I’m around 100 pages into it, and I already feel the need to talk about it.

September Favorites + My October TBR!

September Favorites + October TBR

September was a rough month. The semester started, I picked up more work hours, and I was trying to make two new cosplays for NYCC. That said, I still reached my quota of 10 books! (Barely, but it counts).

Hopefully, things will calm down a little now that the convention is over and the semester is in full swing. Although I did just get cast in a play, so maybe more free time isn’t exactly a realistic goal?

Either way, I wanted to talk about some of my favorite books that helped me survive the insanity that was September, and some of the books I plan to get to this month.

Read more to see my favorite reads of last month, and the books I’m hoping to love in October!
