Disney-A-Thon TBR (Aladdin, The Lion King, Mulan, Tangled)

My Disney-A-Thon TBR + A Useful Spreadsheet

I used to be terrified of readathons. Making a strict TBR and sticking to it had always intimidated me, and honestly, it still does. But then I joined the Reading Rush last month, and actually had a really good time (even though I didn’t read all 7 books). So now, I’m hoping to do the same thing with the Disney-A-Thon.

I mean, Disney kinda is the one true love of my life, so I feel like I have to.

If you haven’t heard of the Disney-A-Thon, it’s a readathon that takes place over the month of August. You pick a team (go team Tangled!), and complete challenges to earn points. Each team has their own list of challenges, but once you finish those, you can do other team’s challenges.

If you want more info, check out the Disney-A-Thon on twitter (@disneyreadathon)!

Also, if you’re doing the Disney-A-Thon, I created a spreadsheet that can help you organize your TBR and keep track of your points.

[In case twitter isn’t working- here’s a link to the spreadsheet]

Okay, enough background info, let’s get started talking about my TBR!

Review in a Nutshell: Spin The Dawn is a fun, fast paced fantasy. It was pitched to me as Mulan, Project Runway, and a hint of Aladdin, and honestly, that is the best way to describe it.

“Artisans such as you are soldiers in times of war.”

When her father is summoned to compete in a competition to become to Imperial Tailor, she disguises herself as a boy and takes his place. However, winning the title of Imperial Tailor is harder than she could imagine, as she must balance her secret, sabotaging competitors, and the impossible task granted to her.

‘What did you find?’
His voice turned lethally soft. ‘That it’s just the beginning.'”

Disney to Book Recommendations

Fairytale Retelling Recommendations!

Here are some fairytale retellings I adore, inspired by familiar characters we all grew up with!

For Snow White Fans: The Shadow Queen by C. J. Redwine
The Shadow Queen is not your typical Snow White retelling. This dark and twisted fantasy novel follows a fugitive princess trying to take back her crown, and a prince who will do anything to save his kingdom, even if it means making a deal with an evil queen.
For Cinderella Fans: Geekerella by Ashley Poston
Geekerella is an adorable Cinderella retelling, centered around fandom and geek culture. It’s a fresh take on a classic fairytale that will remain in your heart long after you put it down.
For Aladdin Fans: The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury
This Aladdin-inspired tale tells the story of Zahra, a jinni whose lamp is picked up by the not-very-princely Aladdin. When given the opportunity to be free of her lamp, she must decide if freedom is worth everything it will cost.

What is your favorite fairytale retelling?
