There have been a lot of amazing releases this year, so far. Obviously, I haven’t been able to read them all, but I still wanted to talk about some of my favorites! There are a few I haven’t quite gotten to yet
(A Reaper At The Gates) so don’t think they’re not on this list because I hated them. I just haven’t had the time to read them (or I’m really afraid to read them, like with Reaper. Please Sabaa don’t hurt these characters anymore they need a break!) Also, I’m not including any books being released after June, I’ll make a different list in December or January covering all of those releases.
Okay on with the top ten!
Sidenote: I’m extremely indecisive so they aren’t in any particular order, with the exception of the first three probably being my top 3 reads this year.
I absolutely love to keep track of all the new YA releases. For the past few months, on my Tumblr, I have been making lists and graphics to keep track of what my Most Anticipated book releases are for each month. I plan to continue that here, but in the meantime, I thought I would share some of the past few month’s major releases!
[ Edit (12/2020): This review was first posted years ago, and my thoughts on this series have changed since then. I want to reread it before rewriting this review, but in the meantime I want to point out that this series includes harmful representation and lacks diversity in it’s cast of characters. While I still enjoy the books, these issues cannot be ignored. Hopefully I’ll be updating this review soon, but until then, I’ll be adding this disclaimer to all of my ACOTAR reviews and adjusting my rating. Also, this book on its own, in hindsight, was just not very good (bad enough that I lowered it even more than I lowered it before).]
[ UPDATE 2019: I’ve edited this review since my initial posting, dropping the rating from a 4.5 to a 3 (and that’s me being nice). The more I think about this book, the more I realized how disappointing it is, and how unnecessary it feels. It was a money grab disguised as fan service. ]
Overall: 2/5 Stars
Plot and Themes: 2/5
Awesomeness Factor: 1/5
Review in a Nutshell:
A Court of Frost and Starlight is a fluffy, quick read that sets up the next book in the universe. It’s basically a filler christmas fanfic.
“I think my heart knew you were mine long before I ever realized it.”
Most Anticipated May Releases
May is a crazy month. There are so many insane book releases that I’m dying for! So, naturally, I want to talk about them all. Since there are so many, I won’t talk about them too much, but I will include links to their Goodreads pages if you want to learn more!
So here are 16 highly anticipated YA releases of May 2018!
