I can’t believe 2020 is almost over. I know that the second the calendar switches to 2021, things won’t magically get better, but I’m still excited for this year to end.

There were a lot of great books that came out this year, and I feel like I got to most of them, but there were still a few I didn’t get the chance to read. So, my December will be me trying to catch up.

Some of my most anticipated releases of the year… I didn’t get to read. But that’s okay! Because we have a couple of weeks now to read them.

So, without further ado, here are the books I’m hoping to get to before the end of the year.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab

I actually just finished this one! The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is an absolutely stunning novel, following Addie, a girl who makes a faustian deal to live forever. However, as a result of her deal, everyone she ever meets instantly forgets her and she can never make a lasting mark on the world. She lives with way for almost 300 years, until one day she meets a guy in a bookstore who remembers her.

How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black

Genre: YA Urban Fantasy (Novella)
Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers

Series: The Cruel Prince #3.5

This book is a novella including multiple short stories from Cardan’s life. Normally, I think novellas are unnecessary and I’m not a big fan, but this is one exception. I love Cardan so much, and I can’t wait to learn more about him!

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

Chain of Gold is the next book in the Shadowhunter universe. This book chronologically takes place after The Infernal Devices, and follows the children of some characters we might be familiar with, as well as some new faces.

House of Earth and Blood and Sarah J. Maas’s first adult fantasy novel! Technically. I’d still argue that ACOTAR is New Adult and not YA but the publishers might disagree with me there. Either way, this book follows Bryce Quinlan. When her friends are brutally murdered, she’s determined to figure out who the killer is and get revenge. Meanwhile, Hunt Athalar, an enslaved fallen angel, is offered a deal: a chance for his freedom in exchange for helping Bryce find the murderer.

Cemetery Boys by Aidan Thomas

Cemetery Boys is Aidan Thomas’ debut novel, and it follows Yadriel, who wants to prove to his family that he is a real brujo. So, he summons a ghost. Except, the ghost that is summoned is not the one he was hoping for. Now, he’s stuck with Julian, the school’s resident bad boy, until Julian can figure out the truth of his death. But the more time they spend together, the less Yadriel wants Julian to leave.

Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

After reading the Stalking Jack the Ripper series, I knew I would read anything Kerri Maniscalco wrote. I was excited for Kingdom of the Wicked before I knew what it was about, but when I actually heard the synopsis? I can’t wait. This book follows Emilia, a witch whose desperate to find out who killed her twin sister. She will do anything for vengeance, even if it means working with Wrath, one of the Wicked, a prince of Hell that she’s been warned about her whole life.

And thats my list! I know it’s a little ambitious, and I probably won’t get to all of them, but I’ll try. I guess we’ll see in January if I succeed.
