Premise:

The Honey-Don’t List follows two employees, James and Carey, of a famous home remodeling couple. When said couple embark on a book tour, James and Carey are forced to come along to keep the couple from ruining their brand (or killing each other).

Writing & Setting

Christina Lauren are my go-to contemporary romance authors for a reason. Their writing style is the perfect blend of heart and humor. The setting of this book was really interesting- the majority of the book taking place in their tour van as they travel. It was a really unique backdrop to have this story take place. It dealt slightly with the idea of fame, because the two main characters are constantly trying to maintain their bosses images, but it’s also slightly removed from it. I really enjoyed that because we’re able to get the drama of books dealing with fame, without it taking over the book itself.

Plot

This book is just pure fun. It has plenty of drama, humor, and even some depth. And, of course, an adorable romance plot-line. The romance in this book probably isn’t my number one favorite for Christina Lauren books, (only because they set the bar for themselves too high with Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating and The Unhoneymooners) but it’s still swoon-worthy.

Characters

There are a lot of interesting character dynamics at play. Our two main characters are assistants to a famous couple, and their relationships with their bosses are almost as important as the main romantic relationship in this book. It was really refreshing to see that, and to see the emphasis on healthy working environments. Our two main characters themselves are equally interesting. I really loved the disability representation in this book with Carey, and James was just such a relatable yet fun character to read about.

Conclusion

Pros- Great characters, interesting setting, easy and fun read
Cons- Not as memorable as some of their other books
Overall- 4/5 stars.
