This book has been described as “Inception meets The Magicians” and that honestly just sounds amazing. Also, Ryan La Sala is one of the best people and you really need to check out his twitter if you haven’t already. But back to the book- Reverie follows Kane Montgomery, who wakes up in a river with no memory of how he got there. 2. Diamond and Dawn by Lyran Selene

[Diamond & Dawn Cover]

Release Date: December 3rd
Series

For these next two books, I won’t be able to go into details about the plots because I refuse to spoil the first books. This one especially, because I haven’t read Amber & Dusk yet (but I really, really want to). From what I’ve heard, this series follows Sylvie, who has the power to create illusions. It’s because of these powers that she sets off to the Amber City, to take her rightful place in Coeur d’Or. But she learns quickly that life at the palais isn’t what she thought it would be, when she finds herself a part of a wager among the courtiers. Under a new name, she must navigate the secret circles of the court and their deadly games to claim her spot. However, she must decide if claiming her rightful place is worth the price.

1. Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi

Children of Blood and Bone (book 1 of the Legacy of Orïsha trilogy) is one of my all-time favorite books. It’s so good. If you haven’t read it, you really, really need to. It is a West African inspired fantasy, following Zélie, who’s people have been oppressed by the king. He took their magic, and Zélie’s mother was killed in the chaos. Now, she discovers an opportunity to bring magic back, with the help of her brother and a rogue princess. However, with the crown prince sent after them, and Zélie struggling to understand her powers, it won’t be easy.
