Happy August!!! August is always bittersweet for me. The weather is so nice and the ocean beaches by me are finally warm enough for me to willingly swim in them… but it also means summer is ending and school will be starting back up again, which is much less fun.
Luckily, there are plenty of great books coming out this month to distract us from the semester starting!! Typically, summer is weaker in releases than fall, but we do have quite a few good books coming out in August!

6. The Dragon Republic by R. F. Kuang

Release Date: August 6th
Series: The Poppy War #2

Because this is a sequel, I won’t go into spoilery detail (also because I haven’t read The Poppy War yet and I refuse to spoil it for myself). The Poppy War got so much hype last year, and I can’t wait see what it’s all about!
5. A Dress For The Wicked by Autumn Krause

This book is pitched as Project Runway meets The Selection. So, needless to say, I’m intrigued. But Emmy is the first “country girl” to compete, more obstacles are thrown Emmy’s way. “Will she be able to tailor herself to fit into this dark, corrupted race? And at what cost?”
4. Vow of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson

Another sequel to a book I haven’t read yet!! Vow of Thieves is the sequel to Dance of Thieves, a spin off novel to The Remnant Chronicles. I loved that series, so I’m really excited to get back into that world and hopefully see some familiar faces!
3. Of Ice and Shadows by Audrey Coulthurst

Release Date: August 13th

Series: Stormheart #2
Genre: YA Fantasy
Yes, another sequel! I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to read an ARC of Rage and it was such a fun read! Once again, no spoilers for anyone who hasn’t read Roar, the first book, but this series is good for any YA fantasy fans looking for something a little lighter.
